Viennese Apple Strudel

A classic Austrian dessert with layers of flaky pastry and spiced apples.

Viennese Apple Strudel is Wolfgang Puck’s tribute to his heritage. Spiced apples are rolled into strips of flaky pastry in this authentic dessert, making for a lovely sweet treat for any number of occasions.

Ingredients

6 apples, peeled and sliced

1/2 cup sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 cup raisins

1/4 cup breadcrumbs, toasted

1 package phyllo dough

1/4 cup butter, melted

Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Mix together the apples, sugar, cinnamon, and raisins.

Prepare the phyllo dough by laying each layer into butter. Sprinkle toasted breadcrumbs on top of the final layer.

Place the apple mixture at one end of the dough and roll carefully into a log shape.

Place on a baking sheet, brush with more butter, and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
