Gordon Ramsay has his share of very sweet desserts in his restaurants. In this recipe, a moist date sponge cake is topped with rich toffee sauce and served with vanilla ice cream.
1: Soak dates in boiling water w/ baking soda 10 mins; blend.
2: Cream butter and sugar, eggs and vanilla; fold in flour and date mix.
3: Bake in a greased dish at 180°C/350°F for 30-35 minutes.
4: Melt butter, brown sugar, and cream over low heat until the sauce is thick.
5: Serve over warm pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
The moist cake paired with rich toffee sauce is the perfect candidate to be for the sweetest of endings. Good for an ending of any meal.
