BIO: At the age of 16, Marc Forgione was working with his father at An American Place before he graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree from the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management. He spent his summers working at New York restaurant, Kazuto Matsusaka and also with his father at An American Place and then under Patricia Yeo at AZ. Patricia Yeo and chef Pino Maffeo opened Paza, and hired Marc as the sous chef. Then, Laurent Tournondel opened BLT Steak, and recruited Marc Forgione as his sous chef.
Marc left for France to further his education and began work under Michel Guerard in Eugenie les Bains. After his stint overseas, he returned to New York, to serve as chef de cuisine at BLT Prime under Laurent Tourondel. BLT Prime went on to earn a 27 in the Zagat Guide, which made it the highest ranking steakhouse in the history of New York City. Marc Forgione was then named corporate chef for the BLT Restaurant Group where he developed recipes as BLT went to open more restaurants around the country.
As a recipient of a Michelin star in 2011, this made him the youngest American born chef and owner to receive the honor in consecutive years. He has also received a two-star review from Sam Sifton of The New York Times. The restaurant was also named Key Newcomer by Zagat Guide 2009, Top 25 Restaurants in NYC by Modern Luxury Magazine and All Star Eatery by Forbes magazine. Marc Forgione was awarded Star Chefs Rising Star of the Year Award 2010, Rising Star 2008, and New Formalist by Esquire magazine in 2008. Marc is the winner of Season 3 of The Next Iron Chef and is available for speaking engagements, cooking demonstrations and endorsements.
