Nancy Silverton

Celebrity chef speaker, Nancy Silverton, is an accomplished chef and baker, most known for her popular bakery and various restaurants in Los Angeles.  Nancy Silverton is the co-founder and head baker at Lea Brea bakery, one of America’s largest sellers of fresh bread. She was also head pastry chef at the now closed Campanile Restaurant. Along with Le Brea bakery, she owns two restaurants with fellow celebrity chef Mario batali, Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza. In addition to her restaurants, Nancy Silverton is also the author of several cookbooks including Breads from the La Brea bakery, Nancy Silverton’s Pastries from the La Brea bakery, Nancy Silverton’s sandwich Book: The Best Sandwiches Ever–from Thursday Nights at Campanille, and The Mozza Cookbook.

Nancy Silverton has also made several television appearances on popular shows including Top Chef, and Today, and was featured as a guest judge in the show Hell’s Kitchen and Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off.

Nancy Silverton has been the recipient of several awards as a result of her success in the kitchen.  In 2006 the LA Times included her in The West 100: The most influential people in Southern California. She has also received the 2005 WCR Golden Bowl Award, which recognizes excellence in baking and pastry arts, the 2004 International Star Diamond Award for Outstanding Hospitality, the 2003 RCA Pioneer Award, and the 2001 James Beard Outstanding Restaurant Award. To expand on this list even more, she was named food artisan by Bon Appetite Best of Food & Entertaining, 50 New Taste Makers by Nation’s Restaurant news, Best New Chefs by Food & Wine magazine, and One of the Best 10 Pastry Chefs of the Year by Chocolatier Magazine in 1995. Aaron McCargo Jr.

New Jersey native and Celebrity Chef Speaker Aaron McCargo, Jr. rose to culinary fame as the winner of season 4 of Food Network’s hit TV show The Next Food Network Star in 2008. The Food Network went on to hire Aaron McCargo Jr. for his own six-episode cooking show entitled Big Daddy’s House, in which he showcased his simple yet flavorful cooking style. The show continues to air today and was ranked the number one running ‘in the kitchen’ weekend show on Food Network in its first season.

In 2010, top celebrity chef Aaron published his first cookbook entitled Simply Done, Well Done, which features the simple, easy to prepare recipes with bold flavors that he cooks on the show and at home. Aaron stepped outside the kitchen to create his own charity, Play to Win, which works to increase the graduation rates of male youths in his community of Camden, New Jersey. In response to his charity work, the city named September 25th ‘Aaron McCargo, Jr. Day’. Alex Stupak is a chef visionary and restaurateur currently operating several restaurants in the New York area. His inspiration arose from the cookbooks of pastry genius Chef Albert Adrià, the younger brother of esteemed Chef Ferran Adrià, before deciding to delve into the art of Mexican cuisine. His effortless switch from pastry king to Mexican cuisine showcases his creativity and exceptional culinary knowledge.

A graduated of the Culinary Institute of America, Chef Alex honed his pastry skills at Boston’s renowned Elliott Hotel restaurant, Clio. He is credited with being the restaurant’s first ever pastry chef after returning there from working as a tournant at Chicago’s Tru restaurant and the sous chef position at The Federalist restaurant in Boston.

Chef Alex could be considered part of the modernist movement in cooking when he took a job under head chef and owner Grant Achatz at Alinea restaurant in 2005. He also worked as a pastry chef at WD-50 restaurant in Manhattan, which has been awarded a Michelin Guide star every year since 2006. After four successful years at WD-50, he went on to open and own his new Mexican restaurant Empellon Taqueria and later Empellon Cocina. Over the course of his cooking career, Chef Alex couldn’t deny his love for Mexican cuisine and this lead him to ideas of opening a taqueria.

The idea for both of Chef Alex’s restaurants is to take Mexican cuisine in a new direction without stripping it of its soul. The taqueria focuses on creating a well-made tortilla before filling it with fine ingredients.
